OK, I suppose it's probably the mouse's fault.... Using Win10 on my laptop, right click doesn't work. Batteries are ok and everything else works as it should. I've switched the mouse off and on a couple of times, but that doesn't help. Any suggestions or do I just get another mouse? Please? :)

have you tried whacking the errant rodent?

does the laptop have a second USB port to try?

did you use the end of the mouse cable to clean out your belly button and left some dander inside?

does the integral trackpad/buttons on the laptop itself work okay?

are you such a billy no mates that you cannot borrow another mouse or try the wonky one on another device?

Depends how handy you feel, you could have a look at the microswitch yourself, but realistically it is sounding like a new mouse. If it doesn't respond to some clicking, it sounds like the switch has gone.

have you tried whacking the errant rodent? No but have given it a pretty stiff telling-off, let me tell you.

does the laptop have a second USB port to try? Tried: still the same

did you use the end of the mouse cable to clean out your belly button and left some dander inside? No, of course not. That's what the wife's toothbrush is for.

does the integral trackpad/buttons on the laptop itself work okay? Yes

are you such a billy no mates that you cannot borrow another mouse or try the wonky one on another device? Yabbut they all have iPads

Ithankyew :beerjug:

Ah, it doesn't have the same crisp feel of the left click switch, you've cracked it. From what I remember microswitches have things that go 'ping' and disappear when you open them. I'll buy another one.

Thanks :)

Chablis, I do like your avatar, can you tell me where there’s a larger, better focussed, version to be seen?

I believe you can swap the left & right buttons function over in the control panel. Try that and see if the fault shifts sides or remains

Try doing one of the following. Alt/Left Click or Ctrl/Left Click or Fn/Left Click.
It won't fix the mouse but might give you the correct right click effect.

Thanks, I rather like it myself :D

The original concept for this was Salvador Dali's image

But when I looked that up, I must have also found

What's not to like. Actually you asking, made me go back on my original journey.

Just drag and drop from your computer if you have one or you can also upload your own avatar from your Profile settings :D
Hi Steve, thanks for that but I only wanted a better look at chablis’ avatar which I found rather intriguing. One day I’ll get around to choosing one of my own, just give me a chance, I’ve only been on here seventeen years. :augie :thumb

Welcome to the site, there’s a Newbie section here somewhere if you’d like to introduce yourself, https://www.ukgser.com/forums/forumdisplay.php/152-I-m-new-here-please-be-gentle click on the link and say Hi (if you feel like it.)

Is there an alternate way like on a Mac that only has a one click mouse.

On a Mac its hold the Fn and click the mouse. You could try the same with left clicking the mouse.

Or try Alt and left click.

Cheers for that, I sorted it eventually by getting another mouse. I wish I could remember dodges like for instance the use of the Alt key, unfortunately all dodges however good quickly fade if not used a few times. It's a bugger, this growing old lark... :(

Hi Andrew, welcome to the site, and thanks for your reply. Good idea regarding getting myself an avatar, after being a member for 18 years I really don’t have an excuse!

I didn't realize what's so great about your profile pic until i visited these links and looked at the full pic.
It's really cool.

I probably should have added a NSFW note, as while still 'artisitic' does include nudes, I expect there are even earlier variations on that idea, but you have to admit as an avatar, it has a story.

Thanks for all the replies, but please note that the problem has been sorted by now
THIS IS AN OLD THREAD. Having said that all replies were gratefully received of course :thumb2
