Cleaning up an rt I have bought , 2016 66reg.
Only done 5800 miles but have corrosion on the swing arm.
Is it
Fixable?
Would bmw sort it as the Mileage is so low?
Any help appreciated

When did you buy the bike and did you buy it from a BMW dealership. Was it one of their approved used bikes? We’re you aware of the corrosion before purchase?

No it was a private purchase. The bike has a full dealer service history and last service was dec 21

I'd approach the dealer who has been servicing the bike and ask very, very politely if they can help you but it appears that they are under no obligation to do so.

The dealer was a flat no, which I was expecting.
So now to find a company to powder coat the thing

Hammerite silver is a good match if you want to rattle can it. Assuming its silver of course, can't tell from the photo.

Corrosion and mileage aren’t related. Having a low mileage doesn’t stop corrosion.

My powder-coater collapsed with laughter at how thin the original coating was. They left with a 10x thicker coating.

Before and after powder coating of the footpeg hanger panels.....

There’s a few 2nd hand ones on eBay for around £100. With no corrosion just a few scuffs .
BMW quoted £386 to remove and refit one I source.
4 hours labour at £90 per
Hour plus a few clips and anciliaries apparently

Wow. It's a fairly easy job!

I suppose the only advantage with bmw doing it is there is some comfort in a warranted job

Looks good, what did they cost to powder coat?
£40 per panel, they had a close match on the paint which is a darker metallic on the 90th Anniversary models

Brake lever side.....its tricky getting the cylinder off and back on from the rear, best also to take a pic of the spring position once off, saves head scratching when re assembling
