Just a tip for those that are thinking about travel to the continent this year and also taking the ferry from any of the NL ports. As we know price of second hand bikes is very attractive at the moment, also over here, so much so that GS bikes are high on the list of organised crime. One of our club members had is 3 month old GSA Triple black stolen from right outside his house. Was under a cover, had 2 insurance approved locks, and alarm. Went in the night. Parked in a Rotterdam suburb.
Police are not interested; file the paperwork and buy a new one is their advice. All good if you live here but probably a royal pain for anyone travelling to or from holiday. Beware. These gangs steal and run the bikes straight back over the border into Germany where they are stripped and sold as spares. If staying anywhere just make sure they have secured parking facilities. Rotterdam is the worst!

This is a think an issue in big cities in general.

Lived in The Hague and Amsterdam for a few years and we had a local cop that we needed regurlar for
burgarly, auto theft, bike theft, etc. Now we live in the outskirts of Holland near
to the German border in a small village, where everybody knows eachother.

Backdoors are open and equipment can be borrowed easily. Even the cops here borrow
our neighbours tractor to pull cars (even their own) out of the extremely sandy roads.

Most people have guns for hunting rabbits, deers and foxes, maybe that is the reason criminalty rates are rather low as well !

Police are not interested;

I'm not surprised. They're an absolute disgrace.

Sorry, couldn't resist. Have a bump!
