Hi guys, I've been overseas for a while returning to UK this summer. Can you recommend good motorcycle insurance companies, I've lost touch with the market. Price is always important but quality is a must if such a thing exists in insurance companies.

Many thanks in advance.

Tony

As a starter I would do a comparison website, say Confused .com.
That will give you the lowest quotes you can then look at exactly what they offer.
Bennetts are big into bike insurance

I rate Bennetts these days. they used to be a bit poor but seem to have upped their game. I don't normally re-new with the same but this time I did. £150 a year cheaper than others.

There's alway some smart assed twat with nothing to say, have a lovely day darling.
Oh dear, bad start to the day I see :blast

Actually wessie did have something to say and your post is now in that section :thumb

there is a section with 493 threads on the topic here https://www.ukgser.com/forums/forumdisplay.php/437-Insurance

Wessie’s reply was entirely accurate.

There is no short cut answer to your question ie. no magic button that you can press to produce a winning insurance quote for you. Actually, there is, it’s called self-help and making some effort yourself, not least as everyone is different. My premium for two bikes (one of which is north of £20,000) in a London E1 post code but with a full licence for over 45 years and touch wood, no claims, will be very different to a quote I might have received had I held a licence for 45 years (or five years) but lived in very rural Dorset and owned a 10 year old bike values at £7,000. It would have been different again, if I were 19, 27, or 35 with nine points on my licence and two claims, one being a total loss theft claim.

In short, every man and his dog will have their favourite (they are all shite, by the way, I read it here) based on nothing more than the price they obtained for themselves at last renewal (lowest is best, mate).

You decided not to tell us how long you had been away for. Why might this be relevant and make you different to the hundred or so other bikermates that proliferate this corner of UKGSer with tales of being ripped-off or quoted less than £110 for a full year’s comprehensive cover? If you have been away for say, more than two years, any past UK generated no claims bonus might have evaporated. That will instantly make you different to me and all but a very few of the punters on UKGSer, some of whom struggle to go abroad let alone move to live there. Then mix in that you are maybe living in sleepy Dorset and not London E1 and you can see that my choice of ERS (Equity Red Star, former Hiscox) might not be your best bet.

So, what to do, darling…..

1. Celebrate your uniqueness.

2. Start with the three or four insurance providers that pop-up most regularly on these pages, they are not hard to find. Or, if you can’t be arsed to plough through lots of similarly themed threads just Google ‘motorcycle insurance’ and start from there. Failing that, trot off to WH Smith, buy (or just flick thro’) a copy of one of the bike magazines or MCN to see who advertises.

3. Then get busy on the phone / web pages. Effort and patience will bring their own rewards. How do I know? Because, the one theme that DOES emerge from all the posts in this section, is that those bods who end up happiest at renewal, all shopped around. That they moaned whilst doing it was just noise.

PS I think the ‘service’ from ERS has deteriorated since they were sold by Hiscox RH. I have a multi-vehicle (cars, bikes, motorhome) single policy with them, including one vintage car valued at over £300,000 (see how different people can be when it comes to insurance) and the ‘service’ was very good. It is now bordering on poor. I have asked a specialist broker to find me something better. You might find ERS brilliant….. a call to them will tell you, one way or another.

I now see that the post was moved from the 1250 section. That explains everything. Had I realised it was insurance for something so specialised, I would have recommended ‘NumptyQuoteMeCheapMate’, the go to provider of tip-top quotes for all the special people out there.

I hear bemoto are pretty good, but of course I would say that. If you call in and mention UKGSER you get £10 off our titanium bundle. This means for £30 you get Full UK and EU breakdown cover, Personal accident cover and helmet and leather cover. Not only that we do not charge admin fees to make changes to your policy, feel free to give us a call. Check out our reviews on google and trust pilot and you will see we are a growing company that is extremely popular. :)
