Shropshire across is lovely, as stated above Brecon the Long Myndd lovely routes.

Police wise , yes there are plenty of fixed scamera vans, but when we did the NC500 we saw a fair number of them there including on the national speed limit roads.

Yup, mid-Wales is my go to area.

We had four days in July last year. Excellent roads and weather.
I tried to post the GPX file up, but at 2.4MB its too large, if someone could advise.

We stayed the first night in Beacon, then two nights in Barmouth, with a route though Snowdonia.

The Devils Staircase is allegedly one of the steepest roads in the UK, and quite a hoot.

Both RiDE magazine and Adventure Bike Rider’s websites have a few good gpx routes for Wales that you can download.

noticed a police presence any more significant than anywhere else…

Wales has some stunning roads, I've done both of the ABR Welsh challenges so far this year. Scotland however has a certain magic to it which personally I have never experienced anywhere in Wales. However if you haven't been to Wales, you should go just to experience it for yourself.

We did the Roman Road trail today on my Himalayan, the views at the top are in my opinion a match to anywhere in the UK, we also did a climb up a trail below Paxton’s Folly just outside Llandeilo. Wales has some exceptional back roads if you take the time to hunt them out.
