I'm looking at taking the campervan to Ireland , travelling Cairnryan to Larne and touring north and south then returning the same way.

UK citizen, UK registered van.

I dont have a passport (mine is currently in for renewal) but as I understand reading the Common Travel Area rules I only need something that proves my identity.

Just wondering if anyone can confirm this is the case and that there should be no issues travelling cross border.

Many thanks in anticipation.

Just take your uk driving licence and vehicle paperwork and you will be fine
Make sure you have breakdown cover for the south

I've never taken my vehicle paperwork to either Ireland (at least once a year for the past 30 years) or over to France or Holland.

Store a photo of it on your phone, but don't bother taking it.
