Just back from an amazing week in Morocco with Wheels of Morocco on an organised tour.
We flew into Marrakech and picked the bikes up the following morning. A mix of Tenere 700s and BMW 1250GSs. We would ideally have all been on Tenerés but another group nipped in and booked between confirming, getting deposits and booking so book early.
We booked the Atlas & Desert tour. Route went Marrakech - Bin El Ouidane - Azrou - Errachidia - Merzouga - Dades Valley - Ouarzazate - Marrakech. About 10% off road (with opportunities for more if required) and 90% road. Some amazing roads, with generally very good road surfaces, but every now and again you’d come across a load of gravel as they were redoing road surfaces.
Hotels every night with pools which were welcome after a hot days riding, bar one night in (very comfortable) tented accommodation out in the desert. We had Abdou following us in the support car with spare wheels, tyres etc. He also kept the chains lubed, checked the tyre pressures every couple of days etc. We also had a provided 35 litre roll bag each in the support vehicle so no need to take a lot of luggage on the bikes.
Overall it was an amazing trip with some incredible variety in terms of scenery, roads etc. Bikes were great and well maintained. I can HIGHLY recommend Wheels of Morocco if you want a guided tour and don’t want to ride all the way down to Morocco. Greg and Vicky run a brilliant setup. Check them out!
