Any of us out there would try to get this exhaust seat refurbed again. Or is the surrounding head aluminium to cut up. Bearing in mind that several suppliers offer refettled heads for around €/£350 or so?

I suspect their was a failure to stamp in the new seats correctly. Or the head bolt re torquing ceremony was not adhered to diligently enough post operatively.

Oh dear!

ps Where have you been hiding? The forum could do with a few of the old style boundless posts you were so good at.

Normally safe to have valves replaced at 50,000 or 60,000 miles....according to internet folklore !

#ProffLore and I believed him Having seen some of the hash ups that came to me to be fixed!

for example Valves moving 2mm plus in valve guides when at approx max cam lift

Had the heads on my R75/6 done at 46,000. Valve guides were loose, so had phosphor bronze guides inserts and valve seats leadfree seats done.
Crack was found in one head between sparkplug thread and inlet valve, so had to get another.
