A day out mebbe

ps if your tank IS blue , that is from a Norge?

No idea, it pre-dates my ownership but I certainly didn't see a 1200S blue option on the Guzzi paint code site, even for overseas markets.

After my minor success with the BSA tank last year, I am going to re-paint it the correct black but with a white detail to match the fairing / tail piece. I just don't want to have it off the road for 5 or so days to do the work at the moment!

i think i have a spare black scabby tank , if you wanted to borrow that ?

That might be a great solution - save me rushing the paint. Thanks, let's discuss that at the weekend.

Right then Ron, I have chatted to Bakdrick and we will definitely be there so we'll look out for you. Barak we may see you if we overlap.

Certainly looks like the weather's on our side.

Last minute dot com

Decided to go to this at the last minute so I didn't get there until 1pm after a very average ride from Derbyshire. Lots of lovely bikes, the sun was shining and talking biking bollox with complete strangers is always fun. A couple of people I spoke, including another v85tt rider, were local to me so we'll likely to bump into each other again. An informative chat with Andrew from Midland Scooter Centre who will be getting my business in the future. Decided on a GPS magical mystery tour for the way home, avoiding motorways as usual. Told it to head for Ashbourne and the bloody thing took me right through the middle of Warwick, Tamworth and Burton on Trent. But the sun was still shining...

Thanks for the pics Ron - here are a few more. There was quite an impressive number of bikes eventually - old and new.

I was struck by the popularity of the V85TT - there were LOADS of them. It looks like that has been a real success for Guzzi.

The venue was good in most respects, but can you believe that despite there being ... maybe 1000?... people there (there was a big MX5 gathering and other car clubs too) there was no outdoors catering. The only possibility of a cuppa was inside the museum, at a £10 entry fee. Anyway, great just to mill around and chat with the many other Guzzisti.

This bike really caught my eye as I tried to figure out exactly what I was looking at. It's a modern V7, but done 'properly' to look more like a 70s cafe racer. The detailing was very good.

Arrived about 12-00pm and was immediately grabbed by a good friend who I hadn't seen for about 20 years....after a bit of a catch up, we finally got to walk round the bikes. Very good turn out with some quite rare models...nice to see so many V85's - had a good chat with a few other owners and compared notes. It was a good venue but expecting people to pay the museum entrance fee to use the toilets or get a drink seemed a bit much. I will certainly do it again next year if I'm not travelling.

I decided against visiting the museum as I was running out of time and am not that interested in cars. Apparently an advance online ticket is only a couple of quid more - and valid for a year if you gift aid the price (might be useful for some)
I can sort of understand why they didn't want the inside toilets being used by car park dwellers - some dishonest types might be tempted to use the loos and then stay for a wander around. Surely not... We were directed round the back of the mudeum to the outside toilet /shower block which was fine.
Some outside catering would have been good, even if only for drinks (being a frugal & fussy eater I'd brought a bite to eat with me...)
Can anybody compare with the v85tt day which took place at the National Motorcycle Museum last year?

Another good day out is the Emma Radford memorial day held at the Lincolnshire aviation heritage Centre, East Kirkby, Lincolnshire. There is an entry fee (believe all proceeds go to the charity) but there is a naafi and free toilets ;). It was a great day out last year so planning to go again.
