Good evening.

I am new to airheads and its an enjoyable learning curve!

I purchased an 84 R80ST and would like to change the instruments to be the same as was fitted to the G/S.

I read Mikeyboys thread and he fitted an Acewell which I thought looked great (the whole bike was great actually).

Assuming its possible can anyone point me to the parts I need to order and if the Acewell speedo comes with the correct fittings?

I would also like to fit a single seat and rack, if anyone has them lying around?

Thanks in advance,
Lloyd

Think Siebenrock do the brackets that you need.

I have a new Siebenrock standard seat thet i would sell as i am looking for a single seat as well. Siebenrock look as if they have increased the price of the single seats .

To change the instruments you will need the g/s housing…2 parts.
The idiot lights (an improvement is LED ones from “Katdash”)
The Acewell speedo (I think it’s the CA85 one that is plug and play)
Not sure if it fits straight onto the ST loom….. but it does onto the g/s loom
Then you need the headlight and associated brackets.

If you want to see all the bits you will need, log into www.realoem.com, then go to BMW, motorcycles, classic, then chose R80g/s.

It will be quite expensive to get all the parts, but they are all still available, either from BMW via a dealer, or Motorworks, or siebenrock etc.
It will NOT be cheap, but it is possible.

Good luck

Acewell CA85 is plug and play, it’s what I have on my Adv build on here. You can also run a remote control, wheel speed sensor, air and oil temp on it if you choose.

Thanks Nin, you confirmed the Acewell ca85 i# the plug and play…… means my brain is still functioning reasonably well.

Thanks for the replies, very helpful.
I am looking for the parts now, let you know how I progress,
Lloyd.

When we say ‘plug and play’ it’s worth noting that there are warning lights built into the speedo that if you want to work you’ll need to piggy back onto the wires going into this connector:

From this connector on the speedo loom

It’s easy enough to do if you can crimp a connector.

I can’t imagine there’s be any problem in not having them connected and just relying on the standard lights.

Thanks for that tip Nin.
I am sure I can manage that.
Rgds,
Lloyd.

OK with your help I have ordered most of it, but I cant get:-
Headlight tapping screw 3 off Pidcocks 71129907910
Carrier Pidcocks 63121244024 £42.49

I tried Siebenrock, Motorworks and Motobins, no luck.
Do I have other options for a supplier who might have these?

Thanks,
Lloyd

I was under the impression that Siebenrock were not shipping to UK any longer under B....t rules.

Pidcocks say they cant order those 2 items, they are no longer available.

I think I can bodge the screws, but I cant get this anywhere:-
carrier Pidcocks 63121244024

Anyone got one?

Thanks,
Lloyd
