1150 GS ABS2- flashing lights slow alternating
New battery, full power, flushed rear and back circuit
Reset ABS several times, no success.
So I am going to take the piston front and back on the ABS unit out and clean everything.
HOWEVER...can’t get any socket in there to gain access
See picture...large screw measures 21.83 mm, so a 22 socket should do.
Went to Halfords and got some more 22 mm sockets but none fit in there..
The unit on the table is my spare unit which I wanted to try first , might need to swap over, but wait and see
Any ideas how to open that large screw , which tool to use
all advise and rest welcome:thumby:

Get someone to spin off the first 2mm of your socket so that you have a Flat end and then get them to spin off the necessary from the outer diameter just so it sets down inside that groove with a smidgeon of clearance

Also try leaving the unit in the sun before you attempt to loosen it or pour boiling water over it to swell the alloy a little and take the pressure off the stainless

definitely heat will help

6 sided socket is best :thumb

I will try that Dr.....cheers for now, might try myself

Now I am still trying to figure out why my ABS2 lights are flashing in an alternate way...
Replaced the complete ABS 2 module, cleaned it and reassembled,
checked rear light/break light working, no apparent leaks from the break system,
brand new battery fully charged, reset ABS system each time and flushed all circuits out with plenty of DOT4...
Still flashing lights.., read all manuals. Hayes as well as Clymer....
Could it be the switch itself, that’s the last thing I can think of..
Wire broken-or broken insulation..
I like my ABS so not keen on removal.
Any further advice ,much appreciated:nenau:nenau
Have a nice day and stay cool chaps and chaperesses

Have you read the fault code? GS911 not essential.
I use an LED test probe on a pin of the diagnostic plug and count the number of times the probe flashes. Told me the rear wheel sensor was faulty.
Lidl are stocking a low voltage test probe that should do the job.

Interesting, but which pins, is it the ABS against ground pin combination??
Also where can you find the related flash number against faults listings??
Cheers

Found it....cheers, will try that

Sorry, I thought the "renowned reference" had already been linked in the thread. Link
Pins 2 and 4. Pin2 to reset. Pin4 to read pulse - AFAIR. Check in the linked page.

Just a short report back and thanks for all the really useful advice partic Two Wheels Good,Dr Farkle and Stepper
Light flashed 3 times, so front ABS sensor was the culprit...
Swapped it today for a new one...price is eye watering , but hey...reset the ABS and it works...great
Now need to road test it, so let’s wait and see

Learned again a few lessons...
Don’t jump to conclusions and assume it’s the main modulator.or the electronic ..
I took it the modulator apart,, cleaned it , reassembled and no better...
Flushed lots DOT4....no better, checked tail light all well.....
So sit down first and have a good look, read
and ask and then try a logic approach step by step
As DR FARKLE keeps telling us.....
Right he is and next time I am sure I will do all again...the wrong way round.....:blast:D:D

The tail/brake light throwing up warning lights doesn't apply to your basic abs system. That problem only applies to the later servo/abs.
