Looking for recommendation for where to stay mid pointish on the RDGA 20 miles north or south of Barcelonette. Ideally medium sized town to have a look around with a few bars and restaurants. Maybe Barcelonette fits the bill? Any help appreciated

Barcelonette is good.
I can wholeheartedly recommend Villa Morelia in Jausier, I’ve no idea about what’s on in town but Robert and his wife will look after you in the lap of luxury.
Rooms from €95, restaurant is fabulous at a cost.
Outdoor bar, swimming pool and a Japanese masseuse.
Decent wine cellar is a bonus
