Why are there so many G310GS being sold, seems like a good option for a smaller bike suited to both new riders with the power restriction of 33hp and more experienced riders looking for something that will nip through traffic and still have something of the presence of the "big" GS?

But they come up for sale with more than one owner and a few thousand miles, is this people finding something wrong with them, or a sign that they got bought as a first bike and moved on from?

There's an impressive range of blinkundfarkles for them.

Seem to be in the same category as the Himilayan, have to say I like both and am tempted by one or the other:thumby:

Bmw were doing an intro to biking offer with the 310. Bike , insurance, training and clothing. Maybe people have been through the learning stage ans aspire to more power. I’ve recently bought a Duke 390, the dealerships have many used low milers where riders want to “ progress “ to bigger bikes.

I tried the G310 and the KTM 390 Duke....far preferred the KTM, not at all taken by the G310

One possible scenario is that many have been bought by chaps and chapesses who were looking for something a bit lighter than a big GS and were lured into thinking it would be a load of fun etc etc then to their dismay they realised that actually they were used to the power of a bigger bike and this baby thing just cant cut the mustard

Same as all thos 9T things that look lovely but in reality are pretty shit to ride

they were cheap first bike simple and riders move on . there is a place in the market for 310 so a constant new riders coming trough . dont think they are in fashion with younger riders. as an owner the big gs rider look down on the model bombay motor works . cheap and cheerful how can they use that thing to go to costa !! brand marketing at its best .

Fair point, still surprising to see how few miles a two owner bike has on it, makes me suspicious its been clocked.

best you see what the 1250 have as mileage after 2 years , bike dont seem to get ridden these days .my 310 has 11k on the clock but i went green laning with another, same year 18 hundred mile a lot of the bikes are on pcp limited mileage .

cheap for offroad

Being of an age now when I first started riding bikes they were for everyday use, holidays, socialising, etc so would have much higher mileages than most bikes today. There was no PCP either.
Halfpint has been to Morocco, and back on his 310, hi Halfpint, and has used it for greenlaning around Essex, Suffolk, as well as entering the baja at Sweet Lamb. There were only two 310's at sweet lamb in June ,and mine was the other one.Plenty of people on enduro bikes even though it was for rally or adventure bikes.Nobody on a 390KTM.Halfpint is a good rider, and came first in our group. My bike is used exclusively for off road riding, and when I bought it from Lings it had 1725 miles on the clock .That was 26 Feb 2021. The mileage now is 3543.I do not use it for road riding apart from getting to, and from the byways.
To think that a low mileage bike has been clocked is wrong for the most part. Of course there will be people who still do that, but few ,and far between. As an example a member of our group bought a 1250gs, and polishes it ,and may go on an adventure to a local tea vender ,and cover at least 60 miles twice a month. Another member came out with us on his 1250 GSadventure, and did very well to get around, and only break the gear lever and rear brake lever. The first rider would not dream of using the bike on any lanes. When he sells the bike it will be immaculate, and have very low mileage.
Today most bikes are toys that only come out on rare occasions.
I bought my bike because it had a low seat height, was cheap, and Rally Raid sold kit to improve the survivability of the bike off road.
If people are buying these ,and then moving on to something bigger, better then that makes us all winners as they will buy, and sell the next one at some point.

I've got a 2018 G310GS that I bought almost 2 years ago from North Oxford BMW. It's got the full Rally Raid kit on it - literally everything they make for the 310. It's immaculate and only done about 3000 miles. I've probably done 100 miles in the last year, just been mega busy with work post-pandemic. I bought it thinking I'd maybe join another one of Timolgra's Iceland trips (if he'd have me :bow), maybe ride some of the UK TET, explore some of the back lanes down here in Cornwall, and maybe do some long road rides too. It'll do all the above. But mine sits under a cover in the garage! I keep thinking I should sell it, but I know that if I did, I'd regret it and start looking at other bikes :blast. It's probably worth £4k with all the RR bling, so it's not like I have a fortune tied up in it!
