I have to report that the bike went back to the dealership in their van this afternoon. I fitted a pair of Oberon levers this afternoon, and after that it wouldn't start.
I rode 100 miles on it this morning and and it was perfect. But after fitting the levers it wouldn't wake up. I took the bar switch housings apart and checked all the wiring. Nothing pinched, rubbed or anything like that and its not the first time I have swapped levers on a Harley so have a good idea of where to be careful.
When I turned the bike on, the fuel pump would prime, the headlight and tail light would light up, but nothing else. No starter, no lights on the dash, no speedo display no turn signals, nothing.
At first I thought I had fucked up the clutch lever interlock switch or something like that, but took all that apart again and it seems to be just fine. The Oberon levers have the correct tang to activate the clutch interlock switch, and can be seen to do so. But it doesn't matter if it is gear or in neutral - same behaviour!
I even replaced the stock levers again, but exactly the same behaviour. Battery is good, I changed out the Fob battery just in case and that is OK.Even if there is no key fob present, it should still wake up and ask for the PIN code instead.
I pulled the main fuse and left it out for an hour before replacing it. But the fucker will not wake up properly or start.
I am thinking it is maybe a loose BCM connector or a BCM fault.
I called HD and in fairness, they had Bob with the van at my house inside 30 minutes to take it back for a proper look at. Tomorrow we should see what the issue is. I can't think of anything stupid that I may have done, but we will see.
