Does anyone have any experience of rental companies operating out of Nice? There are various option but I wold love a personal recommendation.

Edit: This thread starts in Nice but moves to the Black Forest.

Edit 2….

It’s expanding.

If and when you do rent a bike, please let the forum know who from and what it’s like. If nothing else, it might be useful for others in the future.

Thanks.

I used a UK broker 2wheeltravel.co.uk to rent in Nice a few years back.

The bikes (F800GS and F700GS) actually came from Elite Rent-a-Bike in Nice. Good service from 2WT and the bikes were decent.

Well plans changed a bit and I am ending up in the Black Forest in a few weeks time instead of the south of France. GS hired from BMW dealers in Freiburg but then comes the challenge of personal insurance for medical cover and repatriation! Page the UKGSer oracle and low and behold, up comes Navigator Insurance Services (https://www.navigatortravelinsurance.co.uk/motorcycle-travel-insurance). I could have taken out a full holiday policy (and probably would have been if I'd been taking my own bike) but because I only wanted three days cover whilst with the rental they came up with a policy which has cost me £33.00. About a tenner a day? I thought that was okay, especially as I already had general tavel insurance with my bank.:thumb2

PS. I haven't had time to read the small print yet but if anything jumps out I will let you know!:D

Was in Black Forest last week, very nice, been a few years and I forgot how beautiful it was, more recently my shorter jaunts have been to Luxembourg as its roads are generally as good or better with lower traffic, but the BF really is pretty everywhere....

...Good job as now with pretty much a 30-40mph speed limit the entire length of the B500 you have plenty of time to enjoy said scenery!

Away from that particular stretch of road the rest of it was very good and not too much traffic except the odd pinch-point and around larger towns.

I know this is neiter Nice or Black Forest but it does rent out BMW motorbikes and is a nice hotel as well.
Haus Wiesengrund in Hallenburg. The Sauerland area is rolling hills east of Cologne / Dusseldorf and well located for anyone wanting to ride the WW2 Dams area
Stayed there a few times as a change from the Mosel

Various local tour tips on their website which the hotel can download onto your GPS.

Stayed there a couple of months ago. Excellent hotel, in a lovely area and not too far from the Nurburgring. The bikes they had were all newish and in good shape.
