HI all - i have a new to me 2011 R1200GS and wanted to fit the LED aux lights from my previous steed......
so

Bought the correct connector from a dealer, for the block under the nose cone - confirmed with dealer tech I had the correct plug in mind
Plug has 2 wires - Brown (earth) and red / white (switched live im told)
wired everything up using wires 1 and 3 from the OEm plug and everything comes on as it should but when i turn the key off the lights stay on for approx 15 mins - and get very hot without any air flow

I have the same issue with my sat nav - this is wired into the OEM power socket under the seat - comes on with the ignition as required but when i switch off the socket stays live so the sat nav doesn't ask if it should power down (garmin 660 but not BMW version) and there fore continues to run on internal battery until it goes flat

surely this is not correct behaviour :nenau

free (virtual) beer to the first person who can solve it :beerjug:

My old 1200 used to keep the auxiliary lights on for a while after switching off. Something to do with the canbus I thought. They didn’t stay on for 15 mins though.
