Looking for personal recommendation for campsite around the Scottish borders.

Yes Wapping, I know I can Google it - i'm looking for personal experience and recommendations if that's ok with you.

I can attest that Kirkfield campsite in Town Yetholm is superb in all respects.
Small but perfectly formed. Spotless shower and loos. Very handy for two good pubs and a village shop.
£10/night for smaller tent ... utter bargain.

Ask for pitch 14. (In the corner under the trees)

Bookmarked. :thumb2
These little gems are good to know about. :thumb2 I hate big commercial sites.

It's only one pitch but you could get a couple of bikes and tents on it, out of the way in the corner.
You just need to be aware of the shop opening hours, its not 24 hours
Good for vans as well

Which pub did you prefer Dave?

Sounds like I should have gone there with the Himalayan rather than Kielder! I'll bet the midges were fewer or even non existent?

There were a few midges one evening but the locals said its not usually a problem.

Usually travelling I've used and can recommend...

Bruce's Cave Caravan & Camping Park at Lockerbie

Lauder Camping and Caravanning Club Site at Lauder (obviously)

Bellingham Camping and Caravanning Club Site at Hexham.

All the above charge around £10 for a biker.

Ive used these several times, and i will be at Lauder again in 2 weeks
the Lauder site has a large pub at the entrance that does great food

Both good but very different.
I think I preferred the Plough. It's a bit rougher but I generally prefer to drink where the locals drink.

Right answer :thumb

Nice to have a choice though

I'm there Saturday night for three nights ... will report back in due course :thumb2

On mi way north to Portsoy :D

If you come out the campsite and turn right you head down to a nice wee burn, great area for Choccie to have a run about. Keep walking on that road you get to the other pub.

I'd have joined you for a couple of beers and to forget where I put my bike keys Mickey. :D However, I've to go up to Lossie to pick up her nibs and we've a festival gig when we get back. I'll def try it out with the Himalayan though. :thumb2

Yup .... up in to Kirk Yetholm and the Border Hotel :thumb2

Just back from a lovely couple of pints of Abbott Ale there :D

1993 I last stayed there with a couple of pals. We'd bought the brand new four valve Boxer R1100RS's and did a recky for a Rainbow Motorcycles weekend at a local castle we hired for the weekend :thumby:

Great wee campsite ... here for three nights pre Gerard and Portsoy :blast:D:thumb
