Morning All,

I've just done a quick intro on the New Members section. I've just bought my first 2007 GS with full Vario Luggage. Bike runs well, has a good history and has done 59k miles.

I have a noise coming from the clutch. In simple English, when you release the clutch at low revs, it make a distinct 'clonk' sound. I thought it was final drive (shaft/diff), but no. If you rev the bike, it doesn't make/you can't hear the noise.

I realise these bikes are a little agricultural (apologies), but is this normal, or do I need to pull the clutch. It sounds like the mechanism rather than the clutch itself if that makes any sense at all.

Here is the You Tube Link. Please note, there are a lot of clunks because I am repeatedly pulling the clutch in and out to make a point!

Relax.

My last Hexhead GSA did this.

I replaced the clutch at 18k, still did it. I rebuild the gearbox at 48k(found a cracked damper casing inside but not related to the noise) and fitted another clutch, still did it.

The bike never missed a beat, shifted cleanly on the move, it just rattled a bit in neutral.

I part-ex'd it at 50k with no issues against a 1250GSA

If yours is the same noise wise and shifts cleanly with no missed gear shifts or false neutrals, I would just mentally "tune it out" and keep riding it.

Great, thank you! The bike shifts beautifully (actually surprised at how smooth it is).

I have loaded another video here:https://youtu.be/vGtuJVtfRGg

In gear, wheel off ground. Is this normal?

Thanks

In gear wheel off ground will sound awful and you should not do it!

I'd worry more about the engine noise.....
