Touratech 20mm lowering Springs for R1250GS

I got round to lowering my GS with Touratech 20mm lowering springs. I found some YouTube vids very helpful especially this one:

The front spring I could compress with wire ties and two bar clamps but the rear spring took more persuasion so I knocked up a custom spring compressor.

Before and after measurement shows the height dropped by 25mm not 20mm.

Is the spring the same length as the OE spring but with a softer section or is the spring shorter?
 
Was there a spacer to stop the spring floating around when the suspension is unloaded?
