The 2022’s model 1600 has the big and very good TFT screen. I had been using an iPhone but this had proved unreliable, particularly when it came to making a wi-fi connection (the bike has its own wi-fi channel for moving displaying the maps, which are held on the phone).
Following some digging around on the internet and some help from UKGSer I decided to buy a refurbished S10 phone. It has so far proved to be a good investment. The only problems I encountered were self inflicted, simply as I had never touched (let alone owned) an Android phone before.
Good points:
A.The phone does not need a SIM card in order to function as a hub for the Connected app. I don’t intend to use the phone whilst riding, so it’s no great loss.
B. It fits neatly into the cubbyhole on the bike, in a thin plastic ‘bumper’ case. I bought the ‘bumper’ case as the phone is very slippery and easy to drop.
C. Bluetooth and wi-fi connections (and reconnections) are both fast and stable.
Recommended.
