Had a quick 100 mile run down to Sleap airfield just south of Wem in Shropshire on Friday, brilliant weather light traffic on the way down and brilliant Cheshire and Shropshire countryside. Good Pegagus café at the destination with good quality food but a bit pricey.

Not been for about ten years its good to re visit always something interesting flying in or out.

Yes, a really nice spot to visit for a brew and slice of cake, got a small museum too. When i lived over Manchester way and flew out of what is now known as Manchester Airport at Barton i would fly over to Sleap for a brew. These days i live about half an hour away by car and me and the Mrs. sometimes use the cafe as a coffee stop when we are out on a bike ride.

I was flying a Cessna 152 in/out of there a few weeks ago.

Give us a wave

Is the road down to the airfield any better ??? Or is it still like an assault course. :weights:weights

Better than it was the first time I went in the 1970's wen I went to an air show that took 3 hours to leave, better than the last time I went 10 years back. I would classify it as "passable with care", except for the 4ft long x 6" wide x 4" deep rut through the concrete roadway just after a bend.

Had a back lane 150-mile round trip out there today on the R Nine T Scrambler - Nice breakfast :)

Was there today, called in on the way back from visiting my father.

You still flying Tony ?

What had happened to the one on its back getting recovered ? I think I recognise it but I can’t make out the registration.

I'm not sure, some of the more experienced types watching it all were talking about the landing and hitting the brakes to hard. One chap was talking about not sticking a 3 point landing and hitting the brakes while it was on the main gear. In reality, I have no idea how it happened, I just heard some commotion and some very excited emergency types hooning down the airfield.

It made some very expensive sounding noises while being craned back onto it's gear. Just hope everyone was O.K.

More knowledgeable types will no, but is that a Cub or Super Cub? the type lot's of bush pilots use?

Had another run out to Sleap Airfield today with Guru Gora and meet up there with Mulcher for a spot of lunch and a natter.

Always something interesting there and today was no exception with an Avro Anson parked up front :)

Excellent trip out. Top lads and a good, progressive ride from Sleap to Stone 👍

The airfield is just up the road from me. Thanks for the reminder :thumby:

Had a nice bimble out there and back today, really quiet today though but the Cosford Airshow is on today so maybe lots of flying types are there.

Cosford is on Sunday 11th. I watched the Swiss team flyover in formation with tail end Charlie messing about.

Had a mooch over today on the V7 heading down to see my father, and snaffle a sausage butty. To my surprise, just as I was leaving, a few other Guzzi's showed up and turns out there was a Guzzi club meet happening.

A couple of interesting planes around again this morning, someone had the Yak out, and zee Germans were prepped ready too.20230903_101003544_iOS.jpg20230903_101242361_iOS.jpg20230903_101236514_iOS.jpg20230903_101446503_iOS.jpg
