It was very good Mike, enjoyed it. I liked the V7 as well.....I tried one of the mk1 750s when they came out but it was tiny for me, probably too used to my GS at the time.
Agreed about the handling on the Enfield, the Harris frame is so good on these bikes.
Two things I changed on my Interceptor almost immediately was to fit a free flow air filter and Scorpion Red Power cans. This was an instant and noticeable boost.
Pics of the stock air filter and restrictive cover pics and the then the free flowing DNA filter and plate....fully open and no restrictions.....
The Scorpions are much lighter and sound fantastic on the 650 twins.
I intentionally waited a year before I decided to upgrade the rear shocks, I went for YSS Z type but Hagon also have available ones for the Enfields. These took a few hundred miles to bed in once set up but now are great. On the Interceptor I find the front suspension fine, on the GT there might be more weight on the forks perhaps. So, as you lads were discussing, there is some gentle tweaks to these bikes that make big improvements, they don't cost much to start with and the tweaks are not expensive.
