I'm riding down to the South of France next week and expect to have my first night near or at Dijon.

Can anyone recommend somewhere to stay that has decent/safe(ish) parking for the bike and isn't too expensive?

Define expensive?

My little touring group used Hotel des Ducs, just off Place des Ducs in the city centre. Around £90 a night. Secure parking at the rear, accessed from the adjacent street.

Most of the other city centre hotels want you to use the public car parks under the city centre, which is what we had on a Wapping tour where we used the Ibis Styles.

If you want as cheap as possible then these budget hotels have secure car parks but are out of the city centre.

F1, Balladin & Premiere Classe in this map https://goo.gl/maps/MPNtN7b6yFXHepqk6 have gated surface car parks.

Personally, I prefer the city centre hotel as Dijon is a lovely place to wander around in the evening. Depends on your time of arrival, really.

A few years ago we stayed in the Mercure in Dijon. There was secure underground parking.

The restaurant there was good, and on the Saturday night had live jazz

Almost every time I ride back from Italy, I stop just before Dijon, in Chalons sur Saone and stop at the Ibis there (Ibis Chalons sur Saone Europe).
Just a few minutes off the motorway. There is also a Budget next door to save some money (won’t recommend).

Gated parking, no underground facilities.
Parked several bikes over the last 10 years, without the proverbial pound of butter in the fridge, always ok.

The only downside is that there is not much around (on foot). But I generally always arrive there and go straight to sleep in order to get up earlier the morning after as it’s the final leg of my way home usually.

Holiday in express Dijon is my go to on way to skiing. Very good, nearby restaurants and secure free parking.

As already said the Mercure is okay with secure parking. We also use the hotel Wilson which is on the edge of the city centre. Not as much as a ‘chain’ hotel as the Mercure or Ibis although it is part of a group of hotels. Might be a reasonable price this time of years. Short walk into the city centre and if you don’t want to walk in there was both a chinese and a pizza place very close on plus a brasserie or two adjacent to the nearby Place Wilson.
