My fault entirely but, that Allen head bolt holding the rear shifter leg on the gearshaft has rounded. Not much space between transmission and primary case to get in with the tools I have to grip the bolt head and remove it.
It is either to an indie HD mechanic to sort or removing all the primary cubbins to get at it myself. Something I have never done but plenty of videos to show the procedure.

Anyone else had a similar problem and fixed it themselves?

Try and knock a slightly larger Allan key in use a long socket bar, my be enough to give you purchase..

Have you been using metric AK?

Buy a decent AF set…if so

As above.....

Because it looks recessed and difficult to access easily I would put a slightly larger Torx bit in a bit holder on an 1/2" or 3/8" long extension bar. The Torx needs to bite into the corners of the Hex to provide drive, the bolt will be scrap afterwards.

Hammer the end of the extension bar to 'broach' the Torx into the rounded hex hole, then turn out with a ratchet or a breaker bar.
