Hi Folks, anyone familiar with the fuel system on the K1200 GT ? We had just set out for a two week tour of Spain
when I noticed the fuel gauge on the bike did not seem to be going down !!! To our surprise the bike ran out of fuel !! and was still showing full ?
My question is would it be a faulty sender unit or something in the clock assembly duff ?
We completed our tour using the trip so no probs after...

Beswt Regards Mack....

Fill with Fuel!! RESET Tripmeter!

Run 120 "ish" miles and top up fuel soon after and reset the trip again at that time!!!

How many litres did it take ??

How many litres capacity is the tank?

Make a decision on whether or not you can stretch to 150 miles next fill up ??

Brick style GT or Transverse engine type would be useful information

Sorry Drfarkoff, should have said !! when the tank filled to full the Fuel gauge came up as empty ! after a few miles the fuel gauge then would display full ! this would repeat for the duration of the mileage ie trip set to 210 miles ... Then we would pull in to fuel station and repeat process....

We used the trip for two weeks and always had a few litres left...

They use a similar "fuel Strip" as the R1200 series

I would lean more to the fuel strip being the issue rather than the instruments as they just supply the information given as a readable form for you

Hi Drfarkoff, thanks for the info, do you have any more insight to where the fuel strip is ? and would it be
accessable with special tools ?

Regards Mack...
