Not all bikes are cherished ,some are just tools .or owned by tools.

there is just no need... that’s neglect on a massive scale.
Although our bikes are generally tools/transport it goes without saying that a bit of love and care goes a long way
My heart breaks a little seeing a bike like that :(

This is the WC section. Is that bike seawater cooled ?

Buy a bike use it for 17 years, get another when it breaks down. I would say wise when compared to those who buy on finance and renew all the time. Has cost him very little in comparison.

Take the crash bars, centre stand, rear shock off re spray a full service and a bit of TLC it will be a nice bike again.

Hang on, weren't 2005 1200GSs just piles of badly built plastic shite that will never last 5 years according to the "expert opinion" on here in 2005 :D ?

That was before they were things bought on PCP (the never, never for us oldies) and put into the heated garage to be ridden on tarmac on sunny days. In 2005 they were used.

As they say in the USA "it will buff up"

Or in this case it will buff up with the application of £3k of new parts, paint and 1,000 hours by someone who knows what they are doing.

Probably one of the thousands of orphan bikes sat in a damp garage or shed, owned by someone who hasn't been able to ride for quite some time but hasn't been willing to part with it.

Must be related to Jasper carrots Funky Moped that he never did get back on the road.

Does it live near the sea.?

It was parked 13 miles away from the nearest sea. I have no other info .
Glad to see that it’s being used and still running after 17 yrs.
(I had one of those 2005 models and it’s front alternator cover needed replacement after 1 year due to paint blistering/ galvanic corrosion around the bolts )

By way of comparison, 05 with 47k miles

Kills me when some ‘well-hards’ see having an unwashed bike as a badge of honour and presume clean ones aren’t used.
I guess you choose your regime and judgement day is when it comes to sale time.

That's not how I look after mine but I'm not going to tell anyone else what to do with their bike.

That is only slightly worse looking than mine. :eek
I can't speak for the one in the photo, but mine is in perfect working order.
