Hi All. Just joined and am currently looking at a '57 plate 1200GSA. I owned an 1150 from new for a few years from 2000, but know little about the subsequent bikes. I loved the 1150, but like the look of the 1200 - what should I be looking out for do you think?

I was attracted to the standard GS because of the alloy wheels to start with, but this GSA looks lovely. Can't wait to have a look, but just a bit worried about making an expensive mistake by rushing into a bike that 15 years old. Other choices are the Tiger Explorer and Honda VFR1200X, both shaft drive as well, but am attracted by the remembered all day comfort of my 1150 - will the 1200 be the same?

Any help much appreciated, and thanks for letting me join.

Pete

The '58 onwards are an improvement over the earlier bikes, called MU or 'Model Upgrade'.

There are a few minor modifications to improve them, such as a bigger input pinion bearing in the final drive for reliability.

The best air cooled 1200's are the twin cam bikes from 2010 onwards, known as TU or 'Twin Cam Upgrade'.

2004-2007 Single Cam GS/GSA
2008-2010 Single Cam MU GS/GSA
2010-2013 Twin Cam TU GS/GSA
