A complete tour of Italy in four consecutive parts

A few years ago there was very little readily available information on riding in Italy, outside of the Dolomites, the Green Michelin guides or some specialist Italian books. That is now changing.

The German Motorrad Strassen quarterly publication 04/2022 has four suggestions. Each jaunt is downloadable (using the individual Tourcodes) with all four joining up with each other.













Each section includes a suggestion (it is not a must do) on how many days to take, along with suggestions on hotels to stay in for each night. That being said, given that it is Italy, you’d probably not be short of hotels to stay in.

Each jaunt downloads really nicely in Kurviger. Here is a sample, using the Tourcode 2204MS01 for the first jaunt, Verona to Pisa.

Thank you Richard. Just had a look on Readly app, and what a great magazine, I’ve added to my favourites straightaway. I will have a better look on my iPad later on or over the weekend.

It is full of routes, not just the Italian ones you’ve mentioned. There is countless amount of routes throughout Germany, which is very handy, as riding motorcycles in Germany over the weekend, can be somewhat spoiled by road closures or restrictions to enter by means of a motorcycle. So I guess the publishers would’ve done their best to avoid such roads, saving Johnny Foreigner, from the unpleasant surprise.

Like you said each route is downloadable through www.kurviger.de using a tour code consisting of letters and numbers combination.

I subscribe to several German motorcycle touring magazines via Readly, along with Tourenfahrer magazine, separately through the subscription United Kiosk app.

I don’t speak German but it’s easy enough to learn a few key words and use a bit of imagination.

Even without speaking the language, the publications are streets ahead of anything that the UK publishing houses offer. The German motorcycle touring industry is vast, far larger than the UK’s, so it is able to justify and support the high quality publications. RiDE, when Simon Wier was there, had a go at it but have since all but given up.








Each downloads really well to my iPad, iPhone or Mac.

I also use Google a lot, inserting the German name for a country, region or town into simple search phrases, such as:

Motorrad touren xxxxxx, the xxxxxx being the German name.

Some really good stuff often pops up.
