Bought this as a contrast to my Softail Street Bob. Being delivered November 11th ('cos we're going on holiday soon). Can't wait!

Excellent bikes, but mainly for shorter rides (under 150 miles) imo. I wouldn't want to tour on mine, but for local rides it's a blast!

I changed the brake pads to Brembos, which made a big difference and, on Giles of this parish's advice, swapped the tyres for Metzler Roadtec 01s, which were a huge improvement over the OE Maxxis tyres.

Enjoy.

Done the same with my GSA and picked her up yesterday

Cheers. Yep, local blasts is what I bought it for. I enjoy the Softail Street Bob, but some days I want to hoon it!

Part of the deal included brand new Metzeler M9RR tyres. I've heard great things about them, so we shall see.

Very interested in the Brembo pads. Which ones did you get?

Congrats on getting the Duke.

Best thing I did, 2 years ago. It was fine for 300 mile days in Wales and in Spain/France this year.
I've put the PP screen and have the KTM rear bag which is fine for a week away.

I started off with EBC HH pads which improved things but then went the whole hog and changed the brakes to HEL, a fantastic upgrade.

I've still got the EBC pads which haven't had much use if anyone wants them £20 the pair posted

Thanks. Sounds great! Coming from a single front disc on the Street Bob, I suspect I'll find the Duke's brakes at least OK. However, I'm interested in the HEL setup you went for. Is it a kit, or did you put it together yourself?

The HEL company aren't that far from me so I dealt direct with them. I actually had my suspension upgraded first and there's a K-Tech specialist that works there, so we got chatting and I had the brakes changed.
New calipers, brake lines, master cylinder and different pads. Can't remember exactly which ones but they're for fast road/ track use.
I've just come back from Portimão and they were awesome on track.

The pads were whatever Moto Corsa, former KTM dealer 01747 811196, suggested. I have also uprated the suspension. It now sits on K-Tech 20IDS front suspension and Razer-R rear, fitted and set up for me by JHS Racing in Keynsham, near Bristol.

It now goes, stops and handles as well as an 890R for less money than the 890 would have cost and is set up for me.

Nice akrapovic already on it too, they cost a fortune these days, £1200 for the end can for my 690 wtf! enjoy!

Make sure you get the pillion footrests/hangers with it as your current set up (pillion seat & no pillion footrests) will/should fail an MOT :(

Good spot! Yep, when I was there, I asked if they had the hangers. The dealer, Streetbike at Halesowen, didn't but contacted the previous owner who said that AMS bikes at Tewkesbury didn't give them to her. They phoned AMS who said they must have given them to her because that's what they always do...

So, Streetbike called a supplier who said that a pair of hangers and footrests would cost £360! Luckily for them, while all this was going on, I'd found a brand new set on eBay for £110. They ordered them there and then.

Just saw this thread.

I’ve taken the jump to the orange side with an 890 adventure 2022 model from saltire motorcycle in Edinburgh.

Very impressed - so far - but weather and work not good for getting out and about.

Happy to hear of any quick changes to make to improve eg brake pads or aux lights????

Ah well, sold my RS last year and while perusing a local Yamaha dealership saw this….

on a ‘64 plate and just over 8K miles, so deposit paid this morning. Just a toe in the water to see how I feel about KTM.

I have a 2018 1090 Adventure S and find it a bit cramped for two up use BUT solo it will utterly trounce my 2022 R1250 GSA in every respect
