All quiet in airhead land?

Mine has been languishing in the garage for 15 yes. An unfinished project which has cost me so far more than it is worth. Still, hopefully one day it will roar into action.

PAH .. been not doing a LM1 for 20 years . loads of big stuff done , just need to find time to do what's left. got 99% of the bits .

Busy enough here today,
This mornings job, detail the fins on the valve covers,
Postman pat should have the last bits for the rear end,so I can fit the bevel.
Then it’s over to you:thumby:

Wow, beautiful work. Inspiration for my build. I have a ways to go on mine :)...

Snap! I've been not doing an Italian icon for 20 years too...
1970's Ducati bevel - engine done by a specialist ages ago - needs bodywork, electrics and a couple of impossible to find bits to finish...
I'm also being held back by a lack of a garage to work in and an excess of incompetence.

Tell me about that fuel tank - where's that from?

It's a Heinrich hand-made 'big' tank. I found a bit of history here https://turtlegarage.com/motorcycles/hoske-heinrich-pioneer-artisans-of-motorcycle-accessories/ . It was on the bike when I got it 2 years ago (from the original owner of 43 years) and is a genuine Heinrich - I think I have the receipt - and Heinrich is stamped in the tank at the back.

But last Saturday at the VMCC Autojumble I bumped into Ian Clarke (from Verwood) who had met the guy. Apparently he set up shop across from the main dealer in Stuttgart (or was it Mannheim) making the tanks and retired way back (late 80's or early 90's, I wish I had listened more) and offered Bob Perocha the business which BP turned down. The business was bought up by another German/Dutch guy who has not made a tank since then. Ian knows all this. And probably BP does, too!

So at the Airheads Association (Facebook) 2023 meet-up near Sammy Millers and Salisbury I'm going to invite Ian to come and talk about his 40 bikes and relate the Heinrich story again, if you like?

Thanks, that's interesting stuff.

That is very cool. Thanks for the link to the history of those, love it.

Convert.

Delivered my R100 ex police bike to a mate this morning, I just couldn’t come home with an empty trailer.

Nearly finished a 1970 R60/5 project. Converted /5 frame to run Paralever rear suspension and drive. Monolever front suspension. Cross spoke wheels front and rear. Inspired by 1960’s desert sleds

Very new to this forum.

Where do airhead build threads usually live ?

Just start a new thread in this sub/section ?
