Yes, that is an issue with the stupid way Zumo displays tracks today (by distance).
I colour code them, you can also divide them in groups and disable said groups, etc. In my personal case, this is usually over long distance riding, so the problem is not always present.

There is another option to solve this issue...

Newer GPS devices use 3 different systems, GPS, which is the original one, US operated and was Ronald Reagan’s gift to the world, Glonass, which (boo, hiss) is Russian and Galileo, which is the European one.

I doubt if they would all fail
