Took the local demo out for a spin this morning.
It was the Celestial Red, which is a ‘touring’ version with screen and pillion pad.
I must admit I prefer the look of the naked bike, which also has a different two piece seat.
First impressions were that it’s very nicely put together.
Details like the period grips and switch gear are a nice touch.
Riding position for me at 6’1” with a 33” inside leg was VERY comfy with plenty of room with the forward positioned pegs.
But you do feel as though you are sat on the bike rather than in the bike, which is how the naked version supposedly feels.
Nice light cable clutch, front brake a tad wooden but strong rear brake.
Nice neutral handling and seemingly plenty of ground clearance.
I’ve ridden a mate’s Interceptor a few times and the motor in the Super Meteor feels less frantic.A lovely burble from the twin pipes and the nature of the motor encourages you to short shift up.
It’ll happily pull away from 30 mph in 6th.
It’s not for me BUT it’s a great alternative to the Interceptor for those that ride two up or want to tour a bit.
Worth a demo .
