Super Meteor 650

Really? I'm not upset, or offended, or triggered. I just don't get it. Nothing to do with having a thin skin, or otherwise - and I'm wasn't just referring to here either. There's loads of 'hate' on some of the RE groups I'm in. If you don't like it, move on without comment.

Anyway, you do you.

…. And there was I diggin’ this ‘ole. Hole in the ground, large and round.

Over the last 12 to 18 mts i've lost count of how many times i've been passed by that development bike on the Motorways up and down GB; glad to see it in its punters clothing finally; price that right and it will sweep the floor with the opposition; the styling to me does'nt look too bad.

A dealer near me had one on display at the weekend, must say I like it a lot amd it seems much more comfortable than the interceptor. For me though, more shiny alloy similar to the interceptor would be nice.

Prices.....

Astral Black, Green, Blue -£6799

Interstellar Grey, Green, - £6999

Celestial Blue, Red £7299

There's a road test / review in the current edition of 'Motorcycle Sport & Leisure' (Issue 750, March 2023).

Bob.

Talking to a rider at a RE dealership yesterday. He had a 72 plate 1800 mile 350 Meteor, he was looking at stepping up to the Super Meteor. Given the rate of growth that RE is experiencing, maybe they are hoping to transition more folk from the little un to the full fat Meteor.

I like they finally put cast wheels with tubeless tires on a 659 twin, now please offer those wheels on a one of the other 650s.

I saw what I take to be the Super Meteor 650 this morning at Bacons.

I take back what I said, it looks better in the flesh than it does in the pictures. That is from a very quick squint, as I dropped in for a new front brake switch.

And now guys, we have the ultimate review guys, from the amazing Pulling Teeth

Ok guys, let’s see how she accelerates, guys.

Wow, guys that was holding it on the stops , guys, all the way from 2000 rpm to 2400rpm, guys, and she just took off……

Took the local demo out for a spin this morning.
It was the Celestial Red, which is a ‘touring’ version with screen and pillion pad.

I must admit I prefer the look of the naked bike, which also has a different two piece seat.

First impressions were that it’s very nicely put together.
Details like the period grips and switch gear are a nice touch.

Riding position for me at 6’1” with a 33” inside leg was VERY comfy with plenty of room with the forward positioned pegs.
But you do feel as though you are sat on the bike rather than in the bike, which is how the naked version supposedly feels.

Nice light cable clutch, front brake a tad wooden but strong rear brake.
Nice neutral handling and seemingly plenty of ground clearance.

I’ve ridden a mate’s Interceptor a few times and the motor in the Super Meteor feels less frantic.A lovely burble from the twin pipes and the nature of the motor encourages you to short shift up.

It’ll happily pull away from 30 mph in 6th.

It’s not for me BUT it’s a great alternative to the Interceptor for those that ride two up or want to tour a bit.

Worth a demo .

How was the screen? With the 'airflow' cut out looks like it should reduce noise and buffeting at speed

I just saw one at Hatfields. I had not seen this thread, but was really surprised at how good this bike looks (far better than in the pictures). Not necessarily my kind of bike, but of its genre, it looks good.

It appears to be very much more substantial than the Interceptor, it's a lot of bike, and some of the finishing touches are a real step up for Enfield.

I am a bit critical of the cheap decals (rather than paint) on some RE models, but this bike has lovely chrome tank badges, and look at the quality of the switchgear (sorry Arsey, took similar pics to yours, but the quality really did stand out).

Price wise it's not a lot more than an Interceptor so it's not as if they're charging a heap more for better finishes.
