Currently i have a 1200gs taxed and insured

its in the dealership awating some ongoing repairs so wont be back on the road for a while

I need a bike for an upcomming trip

found a bike, now comes the minefield of insuring the fecker

I have 4 options

1 Cease the insurance on the bike awaiting repair?

2) insure the new bike using the accumulated NCB from the ceased insurance £189

3 Insure new bike with no NCB £350

4) do a multibike policy £417

what;'s the best option , and what can i cannot do?

Why cease the insurance on the existing policy? Change the bike over to the new one you're purchasing - saves the hassle of getting a new policy, unless the cost of change is greater than the multi bike or new individual policy.

does the dealer offer fire & theft cover for the GS whilst the bike is in their care? This might affect your choices.

hire one

buy bike insure it, cancel insrurance when trip finished and sell bike, get money back on unused portion of policy gte money back on bike

buy bike insure it, keep it, build up second separate NCB on new bike - free to do what you want in later years

Dont get a multi-policy - nightmare for me each bike earns its own ncd makes life easy if and when i want to change
