Hi all,
I will be attending a classic bike rally in northern Sweden in mid June, and am looking for an easy website for booking either cabins, or even possibly camping on the way up through Sweden, and coming back down through Norway.

I have done a google search and not much came up (Could be using the wrong terminology) so if you know of something please post a link.

Cheers
Neil

Hi Neil, ‘wild camping’ is legal near enough over the whole of Sweden.

I know there is an association of lodges / cabins but I can’t remember the name of it. I’ll try to ask one of my Swedish clients. I do though remember that they can get quite booked up, at least in Sweden. We stayed in one, right at the top tip of Sweden, which was excellent and another about halfway down, similarly good.

Cheers Richard.

Gives me a good range of options for Sweden.
I'll have a trawl for Norway and post up any decent sites.

Try this, if you're a FB member ... https://www.facebook.com/groups/babnorway

Re camping, "wild" camping is permitted in Norway. There's also plenty of camp sites. In your position, I'd head north through Norway, the scenery is better, and then cut over to Sweden. If you need to get a move on, Sweden is better for your wallet and license!

For campsites, have a look here ... https://www.visitnorway.com/hotels-...2NLd8xBSwJj6KaN6HP0aAicLEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

There are apps for your phone also ... https://www.google.com/search?q=cam...kgEDMi4xmAEAoAEByAEIwAEB&sclient=gws-wiz-serp

Cabins are widely available. Take a tent as back up and try booking cabins as you go.

What's the bike event? :augie

Hi Pete,
It's a Scandinavian Vincent Owners Club do in Vindeln, NNE of Umea, hence going up thru Sweden and down thru Norway

On a wet tour of Denmark and Sweden a few years ago I was very pleased to discover the cabins for a couple of nights.

We were told though that we were very fortunate in that the school holidays had just ended. During the summer they apparently book up very quickly.

We camped the other nights - the camp sites were great and I didn't get the sense that camping pitches were under the same pressure as the c. 10 cabins per camp site.

He’s right, the cabins do get booked up swiftly for the summer holidays in Sweden, commencing 21 June, right thro’ to mid-to-late August.

Hi Richard,
That shouldn't be a problem, as the rally is the previous weekend, and by the 21st June I should be on my way back thru' Norway into Denmark.
No prob's with Denmark, as I'll use my Danish colleagues for info

This site covers the majority of campsites in Norway:

As for vacancy, the first three weeks of july is the puplic vacation periode, and for the most popular areas, booking in advance is preferable, while the before/after periode will allow for drop in booking most of the time.
