Cut from a parallel thread in the Travel section.

It might well be of interest to others, thinking of doing something similar. It would of course work just as well from Calais.

That makes very good reading thanks very much.

(However, I'm finding it impossible to get anything done with all these travel and bike threads! My wife says "make them stop please")

I would do Calais to the end of day 4, about a 7 hour ride, (done it many times) and then have an easy few days around that area. There is so much to see around Cahors, Bergerac, Perigueux and the whole of the Dordogne area.
If you want to see the area then contact me and I'll be your free tour guide.

our next run into France is in September and actually goes all the way down to The Dordogne and then back. 9 days riding. I have all the routes and hotels but i don't want to post them here until we've actually done it. Then i can give a bit of extra info

I get loads of biker mates from the UK and southern Ireland coming down every year. They camp at the municipal campsite at St Leon sur Vezere and then we just do ride outs in different directions every day. After 18 years I know this area so well that I can take them somewhere new everyday if they were here for six months.
They have great weather 99% of the time and we have some great BBQs at the campsite on the river.
Before anyone mentions it, no it is not a business and no money changes hands.
