Looking to rent a bike in Sri Lanka in March for 12-14 days, have done the same trip on an FMX 650 but wasn’t the most comfortable perch for my wife, looking at an Enfield 350 this time, my question is does anybody have/used one and will it be up to the job, 20bhp compared to 45 if I get the Honda again.
Roads are not too bad and hills are not up to Alpine levels.

Thanks, Al

Depends on how much the two of you weigh . The little 350’s are not bad but would be a bit low powered for 2 of you . One of you could always walk up a steep hill I suppose. If you can get a 500 it may be a bit better . I have used the 350 and 500 in India and 500’s in the Himalayas . Great bikes for the terrain there

Some Indians cart their entire family on small motorbikes and scooters, though they are somewhat lighter than the average westerner.

Why not go along to your local Royal Enfield dealership and look at a 350 to work out:

A. If you’ll both fit

B. If you’ll both be comfortable

In the meantime:

Thanks for that, looking & reading the links I think we would be fine with the 350, I have a 125 Burgman we use two up with the van, and have done decent distances with luggage on 125 scooters in Thailand and all round Bali in the past which are less powerful the the Enfield, we are not looking for speed and would only be riding 60-80 miles a day at most with several drink and ice cream stops and the hills to the tea plantations where we went last time were not that steep.
The rental company run tours with the 350 & the Himalayan so think we will go with the 350, think comfort wise it will be at worst the same as the FMX hopefully better, especially for the navigator on the back.

Al.
