Has anyone lowered a 701 the 'proper' way ie new front and rear springs and spacers, if so, how much did it cost cos I've just had a quote of £650 including new seals. This sounds quite high I thought or am I out of touch?

Does anyone know of a place that would do such work in the Staffordshire area?

I had mine done by Torque Racing near Cambridge. Not very near to Newcastle either. :D

Martin supplied and fitted the Tractive suspension on my 890, so I knew that he does a great job.

Your quote seems OK if the kit is included in that price.

Factory kit is only £250'ish.
Forks are easy to do yourself. REALLY easy.
Shock requires disassembly and gas charging because there's a spacer in the kit that goes inside. Can "just" swap the spring though which woks fine.

I had mine done with the proper kit, as above about £250 if you buy it and £250 to fit it by a specialist suspension bod.

He did tell me that the forks were a pig to get apart to insert the spacers and if he would have known he would have charged me more..

It lowered the bike by about 40mm, no downside as far as i could tell apart from the obvious reduction in ground clearance.

Was 40mm enough for you? I'm 5'10 and 32 inside leg and I'm on tip toes. I thought I read somewhere that doing it this way would drop it 2"?

The shorter stand that comes in the box is the same one they use on the Supermoto.
Was far too short on mine so I got the local guy to take 25mm out if the standard one.

It was fine, i have a 29” inside leg and i could easily get the balls of both feet on the floor, i found the included stand perfect for the reduction in heigh.

In the end I decided to go down the 'Rallyrade' lowering link route. I went for the 40mm. Fitted yesterday and just need to lower the front forks in the triple tree by 30mm today.

Looking forward to having the balls of my feet on the floor giving me more confidence so I can get the most from this awesome bike!
