As it happens I have just stumbled across this: https://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php/544230-The-German-Motorcycle-route-GPX-files/page3
whilst planning a Lux / Ardennes trip - which is normally a 4 day weekend regular ride, or was before a sprog stole all my time and money.

So now I have dropped from 28 days abroad in 2019 (Pyrenees / Alps / Luxembourg) to a couple of overnighters in Wales and a 5 day euro-blast I am looking to extend my usual Lux routes into the Eifel with the extra day.

I noticed the orute out in early post and would alwasy avoid a close to 400 mile motorway jaunt if soemthing more interesting could be done, and the kurviger route is exactly the kind of thinh I would do, especially as motorway one is too far for a day for me as it is close to 4 hours from leaving my house to getting to Calais even with a Flex ticket for the tunnel and no major delays on M40 / M25 / M20 etc.

I was going to ask about the area your West route covers, but less need to now assuming the routes you obtained are good, Ride mag had a Lux Route in this months magazine and it is dire, never in the history of motorcycling has a route gone so far, only to miss so much!

Anyway, the track you provided has helped me scope a day out, if anyone knows this area well and would like to comment any feedback would be welcome, we are all on rufty-tuft adventure bikes so don't mind the odd narrow / bumpy road, but car-free twisties are what we really prefer.

==============

I have created you a dedicated post and thread.

I’ve also started you a thread for your hotel, too: https://www.ukgser.com/forums/showt...g-or-Prum-hotels-please?p=6445850#post6445850

Your route in the post above looks pretty good.

I have ridden around much of the area, staying in St Vith and riding out eastwards or lower down in Belgium or Luxembourg.

The routes across from Calais to the central hub of the four German Motorcycle Routes, were created just to show bods what is possible, using a few free web-based tools. The direction taken will, I guess, depend as much on bods’ time available (and imagination) as anything else.

I would have a look but I assume one needs to be a paid subscriber to see this route in "routelab"

I only have the free login for MRA.

I can see it but I am a full member of MyRoute and (maybe) as I am friends with Rasher.

As it’s Rasher’s intention that it’s meant to be seen, I have taken the liberty of chopping it into my MyRoute account, from where I can embed it into the forum. Tap on what looks like a screen shot and it should open.

<iframe style="border:none;overflow:hidden" width="600" height="287" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" src="https://www.myrouteapp.com//embed/route/6997253?lang=en"></iframe>

I have also cut it into Google My Maps, to embed it. This is zoomable from within UKGSer, just using the +/- buttons.

Thanks for making the route public. It looks good to me and passes by Bad Bertrich (through the tunnel under the village). Bad Bertie is a decent base. We used the Parkhotel which is marked as temporarily closed. Plenty of other places to stay in the village.

If one has not been here before https://goo.gl/maps/tCTCGuUHuVJbjAJs5 - viewpoint high above Piesporter then worth a detour. There are 3 viewpoints marked on the same road.

Excellent that people can now see it.

Here are some snaps from my last couple of jaunts around the area. The weather was different both times. The +3 C at 09:30 in the morning, just as I set off for the day out, shot was at Easter.

Sorry had forgotten to make route public, not open to all, also keep forgetting the new embed feature;

<iframe style="border:none;overflow:hidden" width="600" height="286" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" src="https://www.myrouteapp.com/embed/route/6996934?lang=en"></iframe>

It will be good to try a new area for a change of scenery / roads and culture - hoping the will stack up well with Luxembourg for road quality and low traffic.

Other days are pretty much sorted and based upon my previous jaunts around Ardennes and Luxembourg, out to Bouillon on day one, a zig-zag route across Luxembourg to get some of the best of Lux into the trip on day 2, and also heading back across Lux into Belgium on Day 4 (probably Bastogne or Durbury for last night) leaving easy run home.

You’ll have a great time.

I usually go there around Easter or mid-to-late September and it’s not busy on the roads per-se.

Looking at first full week of September.

Probably firm things up and book some hotels next month to give my bikermates time to be vaguely non commital.

Ah, I think I accidentally deleted whatever route this was, or it got copied / modifed and the original deleted.

What route(s) are you interested in, I can probably link to something the same or similar that does work ;-)
