First post. Be gentle please. I have just de-restricted my 2008 F650GS twin. That involves changing the throttle bodies (including a new throttle position sensor) and throttle cable. On completion, the bike started first turn, and on road test there is much more power. My Haynes manual advises that the bike must be taken to BMW to have the adaptation values reset on the ECU. However, I have also received advice that the ECU will adapt itself during the first few rides. The taking it to BMW option will be expensive. Can anybody advise if it is really necessary? Thanks, It'sme.
