Highly recommend this area. I stayed a few nights in Meyrueis, Hotel de l'Europe, top left of the map in the Jonte Gorge

Thank you both.

From a little surfing about in Google, I found some other ideas:

The maps are certainly good enough to use:

As the links open up as PDF files, it is really easy to save them into something like iBooks:

Do it before the websites die through closure or lack of maintenance.

Lots of car groups and blokes on bicycles also enjoy the area, not least as they also like the same twisty / hilly roads as bods on motorcycles favour. That being the case, look at websites outside of the motorcycle fraternity; you’ll find ideas there, too. I found the routes above by a simple Google of: Circuit touristique voiture Cévennes which is sort of: Tourist routes by car in the Cévennes. That many of them also like the same sort of things when it comes to hotels, is just a bonus.

It is amazing what is out there, either free or for just a few euro for a download. All it takes is a little bit of imagination. It’s even quite fun finding it.

Great area, often overlooked as the Alps are to the East and the Pyrennes to the West, easy to combine with Mont Ventoux, Gorge du Verdon area and the Vercors to make a longer trip.

Indeed so. It can get pretty wild and rural, so don’t necessarily expect a petrol station and cafe on every corner.

Anyone could take any of the routes in this thread, copy them onto a paper map or create them in BaseCamp / MyRoute. Link the area to posts on say, Provence and journeys up the east side of France to Calais / the North Sea ports * and have a damned good holiday, with not much effort.

* Other crossings are available.

Downloaded with thanks. I will raise my glass to you if I ever get on any of these routes :thumby::aidan

There used to be alot of hunting up in the Chevennes ; it could be something to be aware of if you decide to explore off rd up in the hills either on foot or on the bike.
