MonoLever register - Your PHOTOS please

Hi, I've just joined the site as I am now the happy owner of my first airhead after previous ktm's :)

Here's a pic of my Monolever. An ex Danish army R65GS. Was in flaking Danish army green but at the start of getting it ready for some trailriding. I've got big plans for it eventually including some engine mods for a little more umpff but so far despite 27hp i'm finding it great fun to ride and super smooth :)

So far I've given it a new paint job and repaired the dents in the tank. Also tidied up the frame and rocker covers. Fitted a headlamp guard and custom front fender brace. Also got some decals made. I'm working on a CAD design for a fork brace. More pics to follow.

Next on the list is tyres but i'm not sure what to fit as there are a lot to choose from. I intend on using the bike seriously on the mud but don't think i can get away with a full on enduro tyres due to swing arm clearance.

Can anyone help with suggetsions for tyre choice?, have looked at Karoos and Heidenaus but don't think they will give me the grip I'm looking for.

Hi all. Many thanks for all your replies regarding the tyres :) A great help.

Has anyone fitted a 110 rear? I've had a quick measure and it looks possible but a close fit.

As a few of you have said I think I'm going to be more than happy with power. I've only ridden it on the road so far but was pleasantly suprised how responsive and smooth it is and it has plenty at the bottom end. Think my money is better spent on other mods like the suspension :)

Below is a pic of the new decals a friend did for me. Tank decals next. Now hunting for a sump guard.

You don't want a 110,they catch on the swing arm.....
Trust me go for the 400x18 64R Metzler you know it makes sense.
They really do handle extremely well in all weathers and in the dry can scare Power rangers in bends damhik:augie

heres some good pics of the tyres..
I have personally gone over 100 mph regularly [on private roads occifer] on these tyres over last 27 years :thumb2

sorry kenny, must have found another puddle :D

Aye so you did .Beleive it or not Kenny I actually made a small profit at it .I know with hindsight I could maybe have got a little more at it but hey ,another day another Dollar ,anyway all the best ya robbin little Scouser Cnut yi.:thumb2

I'm on to it Val. The G/S guard is already off, just need to re route some wiring and then refit it in the high position Will also fit some wider bars, it has narrowish Tomasellis on it.. I'll spin the STs guard around too.

Didn't notice it when I picked them up but I suppose I was looking for terminal illness or big buck repairs. The fact that you and others picked up the guard position highlights the value of this forum -many eyes :)

In photos I notice some G/Ss don't have the fork brace fitted, any reason for this?

Yes !!!
It's because they are like rocking horse shite to get hold of..
Genuine ones fetch €100 plus, nowadays...
I don't know if Colt still has a spare as I've let a fellow forum member have my spare one :thumb2
and YES they do make hell of a difference to the handling :thumb2

HMMM!??? Interesting!?? I thought I put a post up :confused: Wonder what happened to that then (Kenny??? :nenau :augie).

Anyway, nice to know at least I got an answer, even if nobody knows I asked a question. :thumb2 I did actually run into your other post after I'd already posted here.

Kenny! The 100GS brace is very different from the g/s's brace. It's the same one as the standard low mudguard bikes. Pressed steel with captivated nuts. You should be able to get one easily from Motorworks and the like.

There was a guy in the States who made some cast alli ones, but I don't know who, only that they are no longer made.

As an aside; If some one wanted to send 'on loan' a brace for the g/s I can probably arrange to have a batch made up in stainless. Let me know.

Val.

I got an original on in the end..and left it on for cookie :blast

:D

Redboots...my Jurman is shite...do they make this fork brace for the R100GS paralever ?:)

Brace

Kenny look on the right and you'll see an English flag, click on it and your German will suddenly become clear :D

'82 G/S Mono

My '82 G/S Mono acquired from Durham via ebay, and much speculation over bidders and price!

It's now a running restoration although some of the basics have been done, the frame is powder coated, it has the Siebenrock 1000 conversion and unleaded heads. It is supposed to have done about 40,000 miles which appears to be about right from it's general condition but plenty still to do.

So far it's had an Odyssey, headers and collector box, Hagon rear shock and HID 50 as well as much fiddling! Next is sorting the warning lights, rebuild the wheels getting rid of the threepenny bits it's running on, twin disc and sort the paintwork.

So there's another running Mono for Rob's list!
