Thinking about coming out of the map reading dark ages :)
What GPS unit should I buy? I know zero about GPS's right now except it's got zummat do do with satellites :mmmm
I like the idea of the TomTom Rider2. It does what I think I'll need - Bluetooth connection to headphones and telephone. Maps of Europe and North America. Mounting thingumy. Waterproof.
Is there anything else I should consider?
Are there other units that are better, cheaper, smarter?
TIA :)

Hi,

There are quite a few threads on the subject if you have a trawl through the GPS section.

My oppinion?

If you can justify the cost of a Zumo - get that.

If you can't justify that............ Get a Garmin 2610 (with the unlock codes unused) at about £200. (no bluetooth, but the filter/amp you wire it to - can have the bluetooth module included. Starcom adv, Autocom, Intaride etc)

Tom Tom ? ...................:nono

I have a Zumo and its fairly idiot proff(obviously).

You can just charge it up and use it from day one while learning all about mapsoure and some of the other features as you go
