DIN to USB phone charging

I have a DIN to USB adaptor which works perfectly for charging my batteries/ power pack, but will not charge my iPhone. Is this due to the power draw being to high? The cable is good as I can connect my phone to the battery pack and phone charges.

Cheers for any thoughts to root cause.

Not an "Apple" approved accessory.
