I had a good morning in the sun brush cutting all the areas I could not get to with the tractor and the temp. was rising, as was the need for a ride in the 18c.
So this was the ride.

First stop just 15 mins in.

The mass of white building in the distance is Castelo Branco.

I got to Olerios and I like this place, has a nice vibe, laid back with a lot of little bars and coffee shops, bohemian if you like and in the summer there are lots of hippies and white people with dreadlocks....Always makes me chuckle does that.

The Bombeiros here are very much a part of the community and well respected...Because they save peoples lives and property.

So into the heart of the village and Christmas, as you can imagine is a big thing here and I love it...I shall have to return in the dark to see the lights, they look as though they are going to be spectacular.

Obviously there is water, we are in a part of the country where we have water in abundance.

So, back on the road and I saw just one other vehicle on the roads outside of Olerios, a timber truck...Just nothing going on....It is bliss.

Whilst stopped I took this picture of a water storage area, they are usually covered, but this one was open, they are used in the summer to fight fires and are all over this area, usually out of the way, as is this, I am pretty sure the helicopters use them to scoop as well, as the trees are levelled around these areas.

I stopped at my favourite place...

Then on to Esfrega...

And Herdade was looking well in the late afternoon sunshine.

Just a brief glimpse into my part of the World and I love it, I hope you enjoyed it too.

Ba#####...I managed a nice 2.5 hr ride, about 120km, on quiet lanes through the local forestry...cold and damp at 6c and it's taken me 2 hours to warm up ! Oh to ride in 18c, blue sky and sunshine

I reckon it was into single figures in the peaks above Olerios...1000 Metres up, give or take a little, a tad cold, as I only had a t shirt under my jacket and wearing jeans. :D

I thought about posting it in this section...But thought as it was just a local meander it did not qualify...But thanks for putting it here, it just seemed a bit of a short trip to me, thus not qualifying.

Now I know. (y)

Great mini ride and photos. It doesnt seem that long ago when you were humbled by the forest fires just over the horizon. Its not surprising those Bombeiros are respected by your community 👍

It may just seem like a short trip to you, and in distance I guess it is but.... it's a nice little meander and gives us all a glimpse into your beautiful part of the world :thumb2

I did - thanks for posting!

This was my ride yesterday - cold, overcast and my bike is now FILTHY. Still pretty fun though! Excuse the terrible standing position - years of riding mountain bikes is a tough habit to forget.

That looks lovely there att.
Though I've had some nice views myself in Vietnam. Truly remarkable place and the people here are so lovely. IMG20231215141752.jpgIMG20231212132401.jpg

Whereabouts in Vietnam do you live?
I enjoyed my time there, as you say, the people are lovely...The amount of American trucks surprised me though!
Not living unfortunately.
22 days on a hired versys 300.
Been in the northern mountains for the past 6 days. Now in Ha long bay. For a breather and a 2 day cruise in the bay. Then I'm heading south all the way to ho chi Minh city to fly home on the 2nd Jan. Love it.

Thanks for posting this up, you live in a beautiful part of the world. I totally get the love of the remoteness of the ride and everything that comes with it. I like to ride where there are more vultures than cars.

For the tech dept.
I tried to post a couple of photos, but for some reason it no worky, just says no photos.
