I am going to be buying a laptop soon. I want it to be all things to all men really. It's primary purpose will be a desk-top replacement and I will be using it for business, (MS Office, etc.). I would also like to use it for entertainment purposes, i.e. watching DVDs and playing some games to pass the time. I want a 17" screen and a reasonably high-end graphics card too. Battery life is not a high priority. I also think I prefer XP Pro to Vista, comments and suggestions please.
I have considered high-end Dell and Evesham, but I'm not too fussy on the light show! Alienware and Toshiba are on my list too.
What are your collective recommendations?
Next question, in my local PCWorld, I started to ask about their laptops. They told me that my current MS Office 2000 will not run on Vista. Is this true? I can't see any issues, but I stand to be corrected on this, not having any experience of Vista.
