Took a wee spin down to Hook Head over the weekend...

Obligatory (with bike) seascape and lighthouse pics ...followed by a lovely moonlight walk watching a cruise ship head out to sea...

Obligatory tea and ice cream stop on the way home...;)

Nice way to spend the weekend...

The rider killed near Lochgair was Kamchat from ADV Riders forum. A real shock; he had a three hundred page thread on Daytrippin' part of the forum. He posted fantastic pictures from their rideouts on a Sunday from the Weatherspoons at Anniesland Cross. RIP John and condolences to Sarah and family.

It was 6 degree C at Ben Lawers Yesterday!

Bloody hell you parked your bike right on the spot Redrick took a piss a week last Monday. If I were you I would check your wheels for corrosion, I know what he was supping the night before.

There was still quite a bit of snow up there when we were up there and the pass had only been open a couple of days, dropped down to the old post office for a cupper.

Nice photos there fella, specially the one looking back over the dam.

That's one good thing about living in Scotland (there are others) but Redricks piss would have been washed away by the Biblical rain we have here. There was only minor clumps of snow on the Ben Lawers raod then.

That photo was taken at Loch Lyon, which is a belter of a singletrtack all the way to this dam. However, if you take a left just before the dam, it leads you up and down a trail (mainly 2" shingle rather than tarmac!) and I admit I had to turn back as it was getting a bit hairy. There was some (unlocked) gates to open as well. If you could carry on, it would take you back to Killin.

Scotland at its best today. Had to stop and admire Loch Awe.

Watched a stream of racers scream by looking for trouble :)

Lots of bikes out. A stream of 10 beemers heading south. Shortly followed by another stream of 10 assorted bikes.
How do they manage in traffic?

My early-ish start got my 200 miles in before lunch, though couldn’t resist a bacon roll at the Real Cafe in Tyndrum as usual.

RT city out there this morning,
I rode up back to Skye from Ayr
Tyndrum about 9:30 nipped passed a hi viz convoy of shaking Iam type heads
Anyway cracking day for a run, Filth sitting at Rannoch using a camper as cover.

I also stopped off at the real cafe today for a fish supper around 4pm. This was after a blast up to Inveraray. Saw many a GS, they really are incredibly popular up here.
I managed to see 21c temp and even found use for my super thin summer gloves.
Usually I'm joined by a my friend who has a pan hence the random pic of a lonely RT.

Yesterday forecast was good. Alarm set for a sharp kick off.

Fuck me! Woke up at 0540h. So I got up, scoffed my cornflakes and hit the road at 0620h.

Was cooler than I expected at first.

8 degrees at 8am in Glen Shee.

Roads deserted.

Brekky stop at Corgarff.

All the way round - ski slopes, Aviemore, Newtonmore, Laggan Dam, Fort Bill, Connel (sorry Glen Coe, maybe next time), I love the Loch Awe to Tyndrum road, Loch Earn, Glen Devon.

382 wonderful miles over a 10 hour ride.

What life’s all about.

ps - how impotent are fast cars (like Porsches) who can’t pass / won’t pass in traffic?

Today started misty and cool till the sun broke through near Drymen.

Then just got better and hotter. Saw 25 degrees.

Heck of a job with traffic lights up the Rest And Be Thankful, but quiet(ish) early.

Wee cruise ship in Loch Fyne, Inveraray, Lochgilphead (big brekky), Oban, Appin, Glen Coe, Loch Earn, Glen Devon scorchio.

Glen Coe ground to a halt for a while after an Astra driver’s ambition exceeded their talent and blocked the road. Upside down write off, while the opposing box van lost it’s front right suspension. 2 break down wagons later we were all moving again.

I regretted cutting through Glen Orchy as it’s covered with grit, but worth it to do the Dalmally to Tyndrum stretch traffic free.

A nice wee 300mile spin.
