Hate to think what would of happened if I hadn't of been wearing steelies ,the doc couldn't believe that I'd only broken my toe when he looked at X-ray .
Have a great time
Sorry to hear about your phone at least they didn't get your sticker
I found that about 20 metres away face down in the mud, so sad and such sacrilege. Only joking as it's only a sticker, honest
Sorry to hear that Tony, friends of mine were also at the Dragon were robbed at 6am this morning, phone cash etc.
I've only been once .... that was enough!!!
Every year though, I am envious of everyone heading into the hills with their tent and whisky but perhaps I'll wait for a quiet weekend
So, the Dragon isn't your thing then Tim? That site, Llyn Gwynant is in a lovely location (you must have passed it so many times) and would be great for a couple of nights winter campng and is place i'll go back to.
Sorry to hear your friends fell foul of thievery too.
I've been digging around in my pics and came up with this I took of my neighbor last summer.
He looks quite warm here.
Sorry to hear about your stolen stuff Tony.
Shocked to hear about the thieving going on at the rally ,you just wouldn't be expecting it up that neck of the woods .
Other than that I'm glad you had a good time tony
F
Yes I know it well as I used to live nearby, I guess what happened this time reinforced why it's not really my thing.
You know, pseudo comradery an all that
Tim, are you saying that all my new biker buddies i met there are not really my new biker comrades after all? I'm devastated
i wonder what would happen if they did
One of my first Dragons was in 1966, I was only a spotty teenager then, and it was a long way from south London on an old L plated James. The rally was at Llanberis in the old Army/RAF station.
Was camped up the hill on the left side of the road, there was a long building on the other side with people camping inside and a long line of bikes parked outside.
As I was sitting outside the tent a chap was wandered slowly down the road looking at the line of bikes, I saw him stop and reach down to the back of an engine on one bike and then slowly walk off.
Something didn't seem right so I followed him through the crowds. He stopped by the side of a couple of tents where there was a group of people working on a stripped down bike, passed them
something from his pocket and they all bent down to the engine on that bike.
I walked back up the hill and finally found the owner of the bike that he had touched. He looked at his bike and found that the magneto pickups were missing. Think it was a Matchless or AJS.
He asked me to show him who had taken the parts so I led him down and pointed out the bloke and the bike that his group had been working on. He went back up to get his mates and I got
the fuck out of it and left it to them. I wandered back down on the Sunday morning and there were a few very sorry looking bikes and riders trying to arrange lifts and recovery.
Done almost countless Dragons and Elephants since and have never ever come across anything like this again, normally the complete opposite with people helping strangers with no question.
Feel so sorry for the people effected this year especially if its their first go at winter rallies. There is more good than bad out there, don't give up.
