was online looking for a warranty provider and nobody would do it for a 2004 bike..so thought id look at motorad bmw...
went on the site and put my reg in and milage and it came back with a quote of £345 per year....
knowing that repairs cost a fortune at a main dealer this price imo is bloody cheap....
has anybody here taken out one of there warranty policies.....
cheers for any input
going back on there to look at the smallprint...

If its too good to be true......

Seems remarkably reasonable for a 12 yr old bike with 50k on. ;)

I agree....just been looking at the policy details and all major parts are covered...all internals engine/gearbox/fd...including oil seals.all electrical...sensors...ecu...starter alternater...
obviously not consumables...shocks not covered on over 30000 miles...but ball joints and other suspension parts covered...
and work must be carried out at main dealer....if I add emergency breakdown cover its still only £371....
only point is the value of the repairs cant go over the current market value of the bike....which on my bike might be around the £3000/3500 mark...

It is only money....

How much is your peace of mind worth too you ? At around a £1 per day.

I am sure that others may suggest setting aside money and getting it fixed by some on this site, also a valid option.

It might be worth you checking that Mondial don't expect you to pay for a once over by a local dealer before the policy commences?

maybe if you bought a 2003 bike you would know your bike is more reliable and not made out of plastic and rubber bands :jager:beerjug:

I have the warranty for my 2007 K1200R. I carried it on from the previous owner. Think I have the second or third level. Pay £30 a month and £100 excess for any work carried out.

I've had 2 fuel sensors and the ABS pump and servo done this year. Apparently the abs work alone would have been over £1500.

Also doesn't have to be serviced at a main dealer. I have mine done at a local specialist that uses BMW parts and any warranty work done at Park Lane.

Looking at the small print, the usual stuff about OEM or equivalent parts to be used blah blah. If your 52k bike is pretty much original I'd say go for it...if not, they may well try to wriggle out of a claim if any part of the failure is after market ?

I have a lot of aftermarket stuff on mine, exhaust, power commander, k & n air filter, crash bars, spot lights. Never been an issue with a claim at Park Lane or SBW.

the full service history and all receipts show all parts and work ever done to this bike was by bmw and using all oem parts...
after the warranty offered by the dealer I bought the bike from
3 months..i will seriously consider the mondial bmw policy
