Now I’ve got my trailer back I might even be able to join - judging by the off reading pics it would have to be the pogo! Thanks to everyone for coming and making it such a great event.
Same again next year?
I'd say you wouldn't need a pogo. All bar 1 lane at the very end it was no problem on my supertanker. Now I’ve got my trailer back I might even be able to join - judging by the off reading pics it would have to be the pogo!
Thanks for feedback - maybe the Husky then!I'd say you wouldn't need a pogo. All bar 1 lane at the very end it was no problem on my supertanker.
Though I was running a 21" front with fairly severe tyre but the rear is still a chunky 17" and had no trouble hooking up. Would have quite happily ridden my clunker r80 on it, though not with the sketchy front tyre currently on it.
The trumpet seemed to have no trouble, the CRF, 701, 690 and SWM breezed it.
Would have been fine with a set of tkc80's on the GSA I think.
It was a nice easy going day (mostly) I confess I bailed on the last lane. At 4.30 I was not about tackle a lane we were all struggling to stand up on when there was a range of real ale 5 minutes ride way.
Quite honestly the last lane was a last-minute addition and had it been ridden before hand I'm confident it would have been omitted from the route except for those that fancied something a bit more challenging. At no point during the rest of the did I feel out of my depth. It was a well planned and executed route suitable for a wide range of people on wide range of bikes.
That said a litre plus adv bike on Conti TA's / tourances would have been a step too far in places imho.
A very enjoyable route, would quite happily ride it again next weekend if necessary less the last lane.
Couldn't have said it better, the lanes were a blast with a brilliantly curated route considering the likely attendees that was fine for my Tiger on 50/50 tyres. I'm in debt to the people that put themselves out and organise these events and really do appreciate this event.I'd say you wouldn't need a pogo. More stout please next time. Other than that ....where do I sign up?Same again next year?
I think you mean Colin? I wondered whether the constant struggle had just burnt you out in quick time. I thought it was bold move on your part but it looked like you were smashing through it.I'm quite anxious when off-road, and that last (last minute) lane just broke me as the Tiger was sinking and wedging itself into the ruts. I was genuinely worried that I wouldn't get the bike out of it. Chris was calm as anything and more than once helped ensure I was extracted so I'm sure I was over stressing.
Sorry, yes Colin !More stout please next time. Other than that ....where do I sign up?

How can anyone call that 'fun'? Filthy boots, filthy, probably broken, bike, aching muscles, bruised shins, jeans soaked and caked.... dirty buggers! I'm glad I opted to go on the tarmac route! What a cracking afternoon out it was too. Even I managed to keep up on the old 80. I have no idea where we went though, villages with picture sign boards to tell us where we were flashed past, but I can't remember any of them!
Another thumbs up from me. Just right for a relative beginner and the CRF was fine on the lanes and the road bits in between. One of the few times on the lanes I didn't fall off; although the bike fell over when the stand sank but I was holding a gate at the time! Respect to the two big bike riders though.Couldn't have said it better, the lanes were a blast with a brilliantly curated route considering the likely attendees that was fine for my Tiger on 50/50 tyres. As we made such good progress in the day (because it was such a great route) we were early finishing, so I dont think anyone would have rejected the idea of another lane. I'm quite anxious when off-road, and that last (last minute) lane just broke me as the Tiger was sinking and wedging itself into the ruts. I was genuinely worried that I wouldnt get the bike out of it. Chris was calm as anything and more than once helped ensure I was extracted so I'm sure I was over stressing.

If only they were all like that! This was probably more representative of the lanes we did… View attachment 286791

More heavy breathing than a porn movie. Looks like really good fun and well done for taking a big bike through that mud and slippy grass. I would have been off a lot more often
A few clips from the lanes we did on the day. I missed recording a few of them but you get the general idea. Colin’s Kove looked fantastic on the trails, and I’m eternally grateful to that bit of rope he carries. Thanks everyone who helped get me through that last lane.
Apologies for the sound, I was trying a plug in mic and it was far too close to my mouth, and I also had the remains of a cold. It was a great day in brilliant weather, thanks to those that were involved in organising this day .
I’ll aim to be on something lighter next year, but then again I said that last year. Here’s to 2024 !
If anyone wants to try some adventure bike suitable routes locally and in Derbyshire, let me know.
Thanks, I'll definitely take you up on that very kind offer as soon as I'm fit and the bike's road worthy. If anyone wants to try some adventure bike suitable routes locally and in Derbyshire, let me know.
